Revisiting the Big Fela

Nigerian Afrobeat legend and activist Fela Kuti, who died of AIDS in 1997, was a genius at crafting politically charged songs that even the most milquetoast of the Western world would find pleasant, despite the fact that the message was often a critique of this cross-section of people who lived at the expense of others. 1366632739-americanarama_web_1There’s not likely to be a better bargin this summer then the triple bill of Bob Dylan, Wilco and My Morning Jacket. The aging folk legend has certainly seen better days, but with two accomplished, contemporary groups in tow, the AmericanaramA tour will offer enough enough bang for your buck that you should be able to overlook Dylan’s raspy growl. The caravan rolls through Chicago on July 12 and may be the only hometown Wilco show of the year.
