Ms. Lauryn Hill @ Electric Factory 11/15

Ms. Lauryn Hill will be making her way to Philly this fall. She’ll hit the stage at The Electric Factory in November. At this point, she only has a few dates on her calendar (including Voodoo Experience in NOLA), so you definitely do not want to miss this performance. She’ll head to our area on 11/15. Grab your tickets now!

Hopefully her Philly performance will go off a little more smoothly than her recent O2 gig. Just last month, Ms. Lauryn Hill showed up nearly 90 minutes late for her performance, leaving many fans frustrated. The main concert at her UK show was that she reworked many the hits that people had come to see. Kicking the show off with a rendition of “Everything is Everything” that didn’t sound much like the original. But the genius of Ms. Lauryn Hill was felt when she came back on stage to tackle some of the Unplugged tracks.

By the time she finished her set with “Doo Wop (That Thing),” Ms. Lauryn Hill had proven why fans had filled the stadium for her appearance. Let’s hope her Philly engagement is more like the second half of her show than the first, with plenty of hits reminding us why we fell in love with Lauryn Hill and The Fugees. Join her at The Electric Factory on November 15th.

All Hell Can’t Stop Us Now – LA Rising Live at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (Rage Against the Machine, Muse, Rise Against, Lauryn Hill, Immortal Technique, Set List, Photos + More)

July 31st, 2011

Rewind the clock nineteen years. Did anyone realize when first hearing Rage Against the Machine that the band would become a cultural juggernaut popular enough to easily headline their own festival? The band had auspicious beginnings for sure, but going backwards to those early days where “Freedom” played only on late-night MTV, the band seemed more like a “good idea” than an eye-opening, forceful behemoth. Now, at the pinnacle of their success in 2011, the band presented a festival all their own at the massive Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum stadium, dubbed L.A. Rising. How has the band accomplished such a feat? Done in partnership with Goldenvoice (the company famous for the likes of Coachella and Stagecoach), Rage Against the Machine picked the bands and Goldenvoice handled the logistics. The results were expectedly top heavy, as the opening acts suffered from consistent sound and mix troubles while headliners RATM and Muse delivered excellent performances.
