In Celebration of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s collaborative jazz album, Cheek To Cheek, they will join forces for an incredible tour in 2015. Bennett and Gaga first met in New York City in 2011 after the Robin Hood Foundation gala. They later recorded a rendition of “The Lady Is a Tramp,” and began discussing their collaborative album. The album was inspired by Bennett and Gaga’s desire to introduce jazz songs to a younger generation, since they believed that the tracks had universal appeal.
Cheek To Cheek took over a year to complete and features jazz musicians of Bennett’s quartet including, Mike Renzi, Gray Sargent, Harold Jones, Marshall Wood, and pianist Tom Ranier. In addition, jazz trumpeter Brian Newman, a long-time friend and colleague of Lady Gaga appears on the album with his jazz quintet. Jazz soloists on selected tracks include tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano, trumpeter George Rabbai and flutist Paul Horn.
The first two single off of the album were “Anything Goes” and “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love.” They both reached number one on Billboards Jazz chart. The album as a whole reached number one on the Billboard 200 with over 130,000 copies sold its first week.

9th and Red River had a much louder buzz than a usualThursday afternoon as it was the day Lady Gaga would be gracing the Doritos Bold Stage at the SXSW Stibbs outdoor venue. Thousands of fans who completed the challenge Doritos (advertised in order to win the golden ticket into the performance) waited hours to snag a spot. Once doors opened, fans dressed in Gaga’s signature looks rushed in straight toward the small stage, immediately taking every and any spot they could. Read more…
The rumors were true. I’d been tipped off earlier in the day about MellowHype being more than they appeared and Semi Precious Weapons bringing a friend to watch their performance. Given the timing for MellowHype and the fact that this was the only SXSW showcase Semi Precious Weapons would be at this year, I had a good feeling about things. Rusty’s was more than ready for some more sonic magic after an already impressive start, care of Antiquiet’s daytime showcase. Read more…

The mother of monsters isn’t missing out on SXSW this year–Lady Gaga is playing a show at Stubb’s BBQ in Austin on Thursday night. The catch? She’s only playing in front of 2,000 fans as part of the Doritos-sponsored #BoldStage. But you can still catch the live stream of the show, presented by Fuse.

Initially the City of Austin feared a Lady Gaga performance would upend their city, and it resulted in the cancellation of her planned gig at SXSW this year. Her little monsters can now breathe a gigantic sigh of relief, however, as Gaga has not only been confirmed to play Stubb’s this Thursday, but also as the first female keynote speaker at SXSW in 15 years.

Just when you thought it might not happen, there goes the neighborhood. The one, the only, Lady Gaga has been confirmed as performing at the annual SXSW Music Festival. This performance will take place on Thursday night March 13th at the famous Stubb’s BBQ. This news has been confirmed by the business magazine Fast Company’s sister site FastCoCreate, in a post by Jeff Beer. (via a Tweet from good friend Cameron at SXSW.) Last week, we brought you the news that the city of Austin had previously denied a request for a permit to have Lady Gaga perform at the gigantic fake Doritos machine (known as the #BoldStage) that is set up just north of the convention center each year. It seems the logistical creases have been ironed out, and instead of by the monolithic vending machine, the event has been cleared to happen at Stubb’s BBQ. Read more…
