Sam Beam aka Iron & Wine will be releasing the fifth studio album in his heralded career this year. On April 16th Ghost on Ghost will be released via Nonesuch Records and will be his first since 2011’s Kiss Each Other Clean. Since his first album in 2002, Beam has become one of the more well-known and popular singer/songwriters. On Kiss Each Other Clean Beam began to add more elements of pop music into his style. With “Grace for Saints and Ramblers, the first single off his upcoming album, there is a further progression into pop.
Iron & Wine have a few US tour dates scheduled in May before heading across the Atlantic for a European tour. He makes a stop in Philadelphia on May 15th at Union Transfer. Joining him will be the Secret Sisters.

KEXP is back at SXSW this year with an impressive 4-day list of performances, all broadcasted live from Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop. The lineup includes Iron & Wine, Chelsea Light Moving, Ólafur Arnalds, Wild Cub, The Zombies, Telekinesis, Billy Bragg, Allah-Las, and many others (some yet to be announced), with DJ sets between shows by KEXP DJs Troy Nelson and Kevin Cole. Rosie Thomas Announces New Album With Love for February 2012 Release Featuring Guest Performances by Sam Beam and David Bazan
This year, Rosie Thomas has provided us with a Valentine’s gift far more poignant than flowers and a box of chocolates. With Love comes out February 14 on Sing-A-Long Records and features a variety of talent, including Sam Beam of Iron & Wine, David Bazan of Pedro the Lion, Jen Wood of The Postal Service, along with brother Brian Thomas and members Sufjan Stevens’ band.

You don’t have to be a skinny jean wearing, ray-ban donning hipster to appreciate the fact that LA’s KCRW (89.9 FM) has impeccable taste when it comes to music. That’s why it should come to no surprise that their first ever holiday shows boasts some truly freakout-worthy names: indie-veterans Iron & Wine and reggae legend Jimmy Cliff each headline a separate night, supported by a roster of some of the most buzzed about bands from all over the globe. There’s LA’s own world fusion ensemble Fool’s Gold, Oklahoma’s dreamy chamber pop group Other Lives, and the UK’s husky-voiced blues goddess Anna Calvi- just to name a few.
The party is a two-night event, with different bands performing on each night (check out the complete line-up below) and is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season- good music and cheer to all!
