Cause of Death for GWAR’s Dave Brockie Revealed As Accidental Heroin Overdose

When mxdwn originally brought you the saddening news that Dave Brockie, better known to most as Oderus Urungus, the lead singer of GWAR, had passed away, there was no definitive cause of death. Now according to CBS6, the Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that he died of an accidental heroin overdose, in his home on March 23rd.

GWAR Announces GWAR-B-Q Is Still On, Releases Updated Statement on Dave Brockie’s Death and Details for Public Memorial

GWAR, the satirical thrash metal band, is still presenting GWAR-B-Q this year despite the tradgic death of Dave Brockie. The band has spoken out about the incident and they are planning a private funeral and memorial to honor Brockie. Dave Brockie (A.K.A. GWAR Frontman Oderus Urungus) Dead at 50

It is with heavy hearts, at a seriously late hour, that we report to you that Dave Brockie–who the world has known as Oderus Urungus the lead singer of GWAR–has died. Reports and rumors have been circling around the Internet today that Brockie was found in his apartment by his roommates yesterday, March 23rd sometime in the afternoon. The news was broke initially by Style Magazine from their source Chris Bopst, a former bassist for the band himself. The news has also been picked up by Blabbermouth and Punk News, both outlets citing Style Magazine and social media updates from members of Lamb of God and Municipal Waste apparently confirming the news as well.
