Photos: Lights All Night 2012

January 21st, 2013

Lights All Night is an end of the year, three night electronic music festival that takes place at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas.  The event itself pulls in thousands of raging fans to its doorstep every year, with it a line up of artists that is truly amazing and highly talented. LAN 2012 was no different, the festival brought in thousands of fans, and some amazing artist for each day. The event itself had four venues where the artists performed. There was the Main stage, which was an open stage covered by a tent. Then there was The Hanger, which was a closed building with a stage and many stalls of vendors selling glow sticks, glasses etc. The other venues were much smaller and both outdoors with a small stage for the artists – those were Club @ LAN and the Fountain stage.

City Arts Music Festival in Seattle, Washington

November 3rd, 2012

The 4-day music and art extravaganza City Arts Music Festival shows that Seattle offers more than grunge these days. After a long, hot, Indian Summer, October in Seattle felt particularly crisp. The beginning of the month saw a continuance of the warm, sunny weather, which then moved into an autumnal chill usually reserved for the East Coast. It’s important to set this mood of the death of summer to the fresh fall air to accurately describe the good spirits going into the third annual City Arts Festival presented by Heineken.

Ghostland Observatory: Live at Club Nokia, Los Angeles, 11/4/10

November 27th, 2010

Ghostland Observatory returned to Los Angeles for one of the most amazing lightshow concerts the city has ever seen. Fans were ecstatic and there were even ones from Texas that came out to show their love. It was at that point that I knew I was in for a treat seeing them play at Club Nokia. When the duo came on stage, they really knew how to bring it. The show was an array of technicolor lasers and the music was so hot, you couldn’t stop moving. Ghostland Observatory’s electro-funk vibe and crazy strobe light show got a packed room of fans dancing and jumping. A part of me felt like I was at a rave but I was surrounded by dancing indie kids. Words cannot describe how fun it was to be there, check out the photos for yourself and get yourself to a gig soon! Read more…

I Ain’t Afraid of No Ghost

New Wave revivalists and electro-bandits alike are more or less compelled to emulate the path of Devo these days – the Polysics seem quite pleased. Bands like Ghostland Observatory combine the same attitude of geeky oscillations and post-modern sensibilities in something that’s just darn fun to liseten to. The duo’s Codename Rondo is an all out jam session in retro necessities. Read more…
