To better understand Dave Grohl’s iconic, 20-year-old post-Nirvana band and its latest album, Sonic Highways, sometimes it’s helpful to consider the Four Noble Truths of the Foo Fighters: (1) They’ll never write better songs than they did in the 1990s, (2) Even their worst songs are pretty damn good, (3) They’ve done pretty much everything at this point and so experiments like Highways, in which they recorded each of the album’s songs in eight different American cities with an amazing array of guests, are about the only route for them to take, and (4) “Best of You” is their best song, even though it’s from 2005 and violates the first Noble Truth. As mentioned in the November 11 update of the “Foo Fighters Ennounce Summer 2015 Tour Dates,” the Foo Fighters have scheduled a special show at The Roxy this Friday, November 14th. The special show will celebrate Dave Grol’s L.A. episode of Sonic Highways, the docuseries that currently airs on HBO. So how do you get in!? Amoeba Music is hosting a contest, and all winners will be receive a pair of tickets. The contest will close Thursday, November 13, at 12 p.m.
The Foo Fighters are an American Rock band that formed in Seattle in 1994. Dave Grohl, the drummer of Nirvana started it as a side project following the death of Kurt Cobain. Throughout the Foo Fighters history as a band, they have gained massive success. Four of their albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album. The bands seven albums have sold a combine total of 11.1 million copies.

Following a five-day residence on the Late Show with David Letterman, the Foo Fighters have officially confirmed a second Sonic Highways premiere screening and show. Dave Grohl’s hometown of Washington D.C. will serve as the setting of the second episode of the HBO series. Read more…
