Florence + The Machine Announce Spring and Summer 2012 Tour Dates

Florence + the Machine have announced a string of spring and summer tour dates in addition to their upcoming headlining Coachella and New Orleans Jazz Festival performances,  as reported by Consequence of Sound. Florence Welch and crew will be touring behind last year’s Ceremonials, beginning in Santa Barbara on April 14. The U.S. leg of the tour ends May 12 in Atlantic City, after which the band will head to Australia and Europe. Check out the dates after the jump: Read more…

Florence and The Machine Release New Video Off Ceremonials

Florence and the Machine’s new album, Ceremonials, is due out October 31 in the UK via Island Records and November 1 in the U.S. via Universal Republic. The video very much plays to the band’s ethereal freak aesthetic and features a rather obscure party where people are all wearing gilded masks.

Florence and the Machine at the SPIN Year in Music Party

SPIN magazine threw it’s annual Year in Music party in New York this week, headlined by Artist of the Year Florence and the Machine with guests Surfer Blood and DJ Yeasayer. Florida’s Surfer Blood brought their power-pop to an enthusiastic audience, with frontman John Paul Ritts frequently running out into the crowd and strutting and posing across the stage. But the night belonged to Florence Welch and one-half of the Machine, who killed with an acoustic set. Joined by harpist Tom Monger and guitarist Robert Ackroyd, Welch worked her way through a handful of songs from her hit debut album Lungs, including “Drumming Song,” despite lacking an actual drummer. Welch was warm and chatty with the audience — even giving one ecstatic fan a hug upon request — before slipping away under the cover of great applause, and leaving the evening to DJ Yeasayer, who kept the party going strong.
