Das Racist Remixes TV on the Radio’s “Caffeinated Consciousness”

Fugazi’s “Waiting Room” is a classic post-punk anthem that has inspired hundreds of thousands of listeners to get involved with music and follow the DIY punk rock ethic—an aspect that may have led to TV on the Radio’s cover of the song at this year’s recently wrapped Pitchfork music festival.  Given that cover, Das Racist has returned the favor with their own rendition of TV on the Radio’s recently released track “Caffeinated Consciousness.” Read more…

We’re Not Joking

Sit Down, Man, the second mixtape from Brooklyn-based hip-hop group Das Racist, is ironic and entertaining. Their style is lazy and the nonchalance in the vocals imply indifference about the content of the music. Many of the songs depict their first-hand experiences with stereotypes as minorities, pop culture references, and an annoyance with the status quo, which is all somehow delivered rather hilariously. These views are their message and their message is the skeleton to their sound. Read more…
