Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Danzig with the man himself. A rare treat, Doyle will also be joining the band for a portion of the setlist. This is Danzig and Doyle’s first show back together since the infamous Fun Fun Fun Fest set, and it’s a second chance with Austin of sorts. Will it be the killer show of your rock n’ roll dreams? Or, yet another story for Austin legend? Either way, it’ll be entertaining, Corrosion of Conformity is really awesome, and there’s excitment in the mystery. Fist pump, mosh, and sing your bad karaoke style heart out to your favorite songs.

You don’t want to miss this one, especially if you’re a fan of Danzig and/or the Misfits.
On April 27th, as part of Danzig’s 25th anniversary, he’ll play the Glass House in Pomona – at a special gig being called Danzig with Doyle. That means he’ll be joined by old-school Misfits band mates Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein.
As if the allure of Danzig playing Misfits songs in such a setting wasn’t strong enough, Corrosion of Conformity and The Agonist are on the bill too.
Again, you’d be a fool to miss this. A Goldenvoice ticket presale will begin this Thursday, February 21st at 10 am at this link (password – 25YEARS). Any tickets not sold via the presale will go live on Friday, February 22nd. Tickets cost $39.50.

Eye for an Eye Stands the Test of Time
Corrosion of Conformity is an interesting band, in that they have two distinctly different sounds. While some of their records have all the aspects one would expect from a stoner metal album, with cleanish vocals and a grooving instrumental track, you can put on another album and hear the chaotic, discordant screams ripped straight from a Black Flag album. No sound is better than the other, and they take on hardcore punk as easily as they do metal, as seen in this reissue of their 1984 debut record, Eye for an Eye.

Yes, another South by Southwest music festival is behind us. The 2012 incarnation of Austin’s annual rock-and-roll party town is complete, and this year was somehow crazier than ever. Even more bands packed into even more showcases and parties. And in the midst of it all, hundreds of thousands crammed the streets of downtown Austin either to find the best in music in 2012 or just to have a good time. All-in-all, the level of talent present had increased again, making it harder than ever to pick from the options available. Some of the biggest names in music showed up this time: Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, even Jack White showed up putting on a talk-of-the-festival performance of his new solo material. Read more…

Each year SXSW boasts one-of-a-kind performances that can’t be missed. One great example this year is the newly reformed “Animosity” lineup of Corrosion of Conformity. This lineup existed first back in 1985, consisting of vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, guitarist Woody Weatherman, and drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin. These three seasoned musicians wasted no time, minced no words, just picked up their instruments and punched out a short, stoner rock-infused dirge. The trio has incredible chemistry; the three are able to change tempos and segue into extended guitar solos effortlessly. Mike Dean shouted “Psychic vampire!” with menacing authority. Seeing this form of COC rock this hard, when other incarnations are also exceptional, is especially impressive.
