Online Ad Sales

Long running, successful online music and entertainment magazine mxdwn.com is seeking a sales rep to spearhead its growing online ad business. The magazine primarily focuses on music, but has recently expanded into movies, games and television verticals.

The applicant for this position is best someone looking to make some extra money and grow his or her sales experience in the music industry. This is not a full-time job with a base salary. This position will be commission only. If you are a recent college graduate or someone that wants to build sales experience, this role is for you.

Description:
Our site is respected, popular and venerable. We’re partnered with a great ad distributor that routinely serves ads to our fans. There is potential to take our platform and sell many more ads to new partners. We’re looking for someone with the right mix of patience, persistence, wisdom and charm to lead the charge breaking ground with the marketing and sales reps for the music and entertainment industries.

The Sales Rep will be required to do daily canvas of all relevant competition to ascertain potential clients. The Rep will also need to do regular outreach to potential clients via email (and occasionally on the phone) to pitch our programs and ad packages. They will build regular reports keeping track of all outreach and progress of sales.

Requirements and responsibilities:
- Must have own computer, internet access and cell phone
- Ability to work flexibly and over varied hours
- Conduct regular research seeking potential new ad clients
- Pitch potential ad clients daily via email
- Provide regular reports of outreach progress
- Execute contracts and paperwork for clients sold ads
- Provide reports and support to clients having purchased ads

Pluses:
- Previous sales and advertising experience
- Experience with advertising on the web
- Music industry marketing contacts
- In-depth knowledge of current music trends

Compensation:
This is a commission only position. Commission TBD depending on experience.

The Social Media Assistant will collaborate with the Social Networking Coordinator to broaden mxdwn’s social media outreach in addition to helping the Editor-in-Chief with special assignments regarding new channel activation. Applicants should be well-versed in Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Spotify, Pinterest, Instagram and Google+. Marketing background preferred but not required.
