R.I.P. Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees

Founder and lead singer of the Bee Gees, Robin Gibb, sadly passed away on May 20th at the age of 62.  According to Consequence of Sound, Gibb had been battling cancer for a while as well as having to go through intestinal surgery.  Gibb will forever be known as one of the greatest singers of his time. Brant Bjork and John Garcia Respond to Josh Homme’s Lawsuit Over Kyuss Lives!

Brant Bjork and John Garcia have finally put in their two cents on the recent lawsuit that Josh Homme and Scott Reeder filed against Kyuss Lives!.  In the eighties, Homme Garcia and Bjork were all part of the band Kyuss, but the group split in 1995.  Last year, Bjork and Garcia put together the band Kyuss Lives! to reprise Kyuss songs, but Homme and Reeder responded by suing the group for “trademark infringement and consumer fraud.” Read more…

R.I.P. Donna Summer

On May 17th, the famous disco singer Donna Summer sadly passed away in her home in Florida at the age of 63.  According to Pitchfork, Summer had been battling cancer for a while, and it finally got the best of her.  Despite her illness, Summer was reportedly recording a new album up until her death. Riot Fest Announces 2012 Lineup Featuring Rise Against, Iggy & The Stooges, Descendents and More

Riot Fest and Carnival has announced their 2012 lineup for September 14th-16th.  For the first time, the festival will be taking place outdoors at Humboldt Park and Congress Theater in Chicago, and tickets start at $18 a day.  For the eighth year in a row, Riot Fest will be showcasing a variety of rock, indie, punk, and underground artists. R.I.P. Donald “Duck” Dunn

Renowned bassist Donald “Duck” Dunn has sadly passed away at the age of 70.  According to Pitchfork, Dunn died in his sleep in Tokyo where he was touring with Steve Cropper, Dunn’s collaborator and friend.  Dunn is famous for his work with Booker T. & the MGs as well as with the Blues Brothers. Nite Jewel and Friends Will Perform Kraftwerk’s Computer World in Los Angeles

To open the 2012 Summer Season at the Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles, Dublab and Goethe-Institut will be showcasing a variety of performances, including a cover of Kraftwerk’s Computer World by Nite Jewel and Peanut Butter Wolf.  The live concert, Krautrock Classics – A Night of German Cosmic Music, will take place on June 1st at 8 pm.
