Wye Oak Releases AV Club “Undercover” Series EP

2011 was a busy year for Baltimore-based folk rock duo Wye Oak, with the group most recently releasing a special EP in collaboration with the AV Club for the “Undercover” series this past Black Friday Record Store Day.  Seeing a release from Merge on November 22, the EP features a performance of The Kinks’ “Strangers” and Danzig’s “Mother.” Read more…

WATCH: Foo Fighters Perform “Bad Reputation” with Joan Jett on Letterman

Online Video Service Vevo Has Paid Out Over $100 Million in Royalties Since 2009

Online music video giant Vevo turned two this month, and they’ve got a bill of $100 million in royalties paid to labels, artists and songwriters since 2009 to prove it—an interesting aspect, considering that music videos have traditionally been given away for free for record promotion since MTV began broadcasting in the 1980s. U2’s 360° Tour Out-Earned Every Other Tour in 2011 by At Least $100 Million

It appears that U2 is still relevant in 2011, at least according to recent tour numbers published by the Hollywood Reporter. The long-running Irish rock outfit reportedly earned a sum of $293 million from their 2011 360° Tour, throughout which they played to a total of nearly three million people. Read more…
