The Postal Service Returns for 2013 Shows Including Coachella

The Postal Service is officially returning this year for Coachella and a reissue of their album Give Up.
In 2003 The Postal Service released their only LP Give Up. The duo consisting of Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and Dntel’s Jimmy Tamborello captured the hearts of fans with a unique blend of poetic synth-pop. Ever since then fans have wondered if we would ever see more of The Postal Service.
Early Monday morning The Postal Service updated their website with a one simple graphic reading “The Postal Service 2013″ all but confirming the rumors of their reunion. Billboard is reporting the reunion is to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Give Up to which Sub Pop is prepping a deluxe reissue of the album. They are also confirmed to play Coachella and will likely tour additional dates and cities reports Consequence of Sound.
There are still no plans for a follow up album. Last September Gibbard told Spinner, “There are no plans to make a second record … I can’t say that enough.” Regardless, this is exciting news to many patiently waiting fans. Give Up is Sub Pop’s second highest selling album, following only behind Nirvana’s Bleach.
**UPDATE**
Sub Pop has released additional details about the Give Up reissue album. The Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition will be released on April 8th digitally, on a two-disc CD set, or a 3 sleeve colored vinyl. It will include the 10 tracks from the original album plus 15 bonus tracks. The bonus tracks will include two unreleased songs “Turn Around” and “A Tattered Line of String” plus unreleased live recordings and remixes as well as covers of The Postal Service by Iron & Wine and The Shins.
