Post-punk/art rock band S.C.U.M. has called it a day after five years of existence. The band last played live at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August 2012. No reason was given for the split.

The band posted a message on their official Facebook page on January 12 breaking the news of their split.

“Hello everyone, It seems an appropriate time to announce after a long hiatus – S.C.U.M have collectively decided that we will no longer play or continue to write together.”

Named after Valerie Solanas’ SCUM Manifesto in 2008, the South East London based band was started by Thomas Cohen (vocals), Bradley Baker (machines, press) and Samuel Kilcoyne (keyboards). Huw Webb (bass) and Melissa Rigby (drums) rounded out the band.

They released one full length, 2011’s Again Into Eyes, which featured singles such as ‘Amber Hands’, ‘Faith Unfolds’ and ‘Whitechapel’.

In April 2012, Cohen and his wife Peaches Geldof (daughter of Boomtown Rats vocalist Bob Geldof) welcomed a son named Astala. They tied the knot in September in an intimate ceremony at St. Mary Magdalene and St. Lawrence Church in Kent. Ironically, Peaches’ parents Bob Geldof and Paula Yates had their marriage blessed there in 1986.
