This year as been quite the year for the British four piece experimental pop group Alt-J (otherwise known as ∆, which the symbol you get on Macs if you press Alt and J). They first released their debut full length album, An Awesome Wave. While it got mixed reviews here in the US, the record was well received in England. In November they beat out an impressive list of other up-and-coming British acts for the highly coveted Mercury Prize. Other nominees included Michael Kiwanuka, Django Django, and Jessie Ware for the years best album from an Irish or British musical act. To round out the year, Alt-J have just recently announced their return to the United States for a headlining tour! After a brief trip across the Pacific for the St. Jermone’s Laneway Festival, the quartet mark their way over for a month long tour around the country. On March 21st, they will play the TLA on South Street. It will be the band’s first show since playing Johnny Brenda’s in September.
