Randy Newman, Rush, and Public Enemy Inducted to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2013

The Class of 2013 was unveiled for the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and it includes Canadian progressive rockers Rush, New York rap/hop-hop pioneers Public Enemy, singer-songwriter Randy Newman, the late Disco Queen Donna Summer, Seattle based rock band Heart and bluesman Albert King.

The induction ceremony for the newest inductees is Saturday, April 18, 2013 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, while the television broadcast will be on HBO at a later date to be announced.

Legendary producer Quincy Jones and West Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre owner Lou Adler were also recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award, given to non-performers.

Other artists who were amongst the final nominees who did not make the final cut included N.W.A., Kraftwerk, Deep Purple, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and the Meters.

All eligible artists for the Hall of Fame must have released their debut recording a minimum 25 years ago.
