Austin homegrown band The Sword rocked the black stage at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest pretty freaking hard. Mixing retro rock with a razor sharp edge, they’re often referred to as “doom, ” or “stoner” metal. Whatever you’d like to call them, they’re such a great live band. The vocals provided by frontman John are very much reminiscent of Ozzy-era Sabbath, and the guitars are non stop. Album Apocryphon, released earlier this year, is the soundtrack to a Norse dream trip, or equally a nightmare depending on song and verse.
