The ever eccentric Sufjan Stevens has announced a Winter tour of Christmas sing-a-longs and a box set of new Christmas EPs. Read More for full information.

Experimental folk rocker Sufjan Stevens is a wonder kid of the unexpected. The eccentric musician has abandoned his 50-states project and has revealed the follow up to 2010’s twisted-epic Age of Adz as another Christmas box set. Silver & Gold: Songs For Christmas, volumes 6-10 follows 2006’s box set Songs For Christmas, volumes 1-5. Pitchfork reports the box set includes a series of EPs, all featuring songs spreading the holiday cheer, and other fun goodies like stickers, temporary tattoos, ornaments, a pull out poster, lyric and chord sheets, psychedelic photos and liner notes.  Silver & Gold will also feature guest performances from members of The National, Arcade Fire, Adz collaborator Cat Martino and many others.

Sufjan also announced a Christmas related tour. In semi-self explanatory fashion the tour is titled “Surfjohn Stevens Christmas Sing-A-Long: Seasonal Affective Disorder Yuletide Disaster Pageant on Ice”. The tour will start in late November and run through December. Fans should expect this to be a Christmas tour and shouldn’t expect Stevens to play his old stuff.
