The Velvet Underground & Nico Tribute Album Featuring Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees and More Announced for October 2012 Release

Just as the iconic album reaches its 45th anniversary, Universal Music Enterprises and Castle Face Records have teamed up for a fitting tribute to The Velvet Underground & Nico.  The tribute album will be made available in multiple formats starting October 30.


As Brian Eno said of The Velvet Underground & Nico, “the album may not have sold many copies, but everyone who bought it formed a band.” The Velvet Underground & Nico by Castle Face and Friends will feature many noteworthy collaborators. Ty Segall will be doing a rendition of “Femme Fatale”, White Fence will cover “Run Run Run”, and Thee Oh Sees will do a take of “European Son”.


Those interested in purchasing The Velvet Underground & Nico by Castle Face and Friends will be able to acquire the tribute album through various means. Not only will it be available digitally and in CD format, fans will be able to download a song a day for from the tribute album on various participating sites. The tribute album will be available November 6 on vinyl only, while October 30 a limited edition six CD Super Deluxe box set will surface, featuring 30 previously unreleased tracks. The box set will also include a hefty 88-page booklet.
