Vans House Parties–a free, open to the public, concert series in Brooklyn, NY–concluded the summer season last night in style. The vibe was fierce as Nightbirds, Doomriders, and Turbonegro offered up one mosh-worthy slam after another. The audience took advantage as a pit opened up early and crowdsurfers constantly spilled over the security barricade.

Starting the evening off right was Night Birds, a four-piece of manic punk energy.

Doomriders brought an aggressive metal set that got the mosh pit in full scream. Vocalist-guitarist Nate Newton was first to pay tribute to Baroness, the fourth band on bill that had to drop out after a terrible bus accident in England. Said Newton, “We’d like to dedicate this next song to our friends in Baroness who couldn’t be here tonight. We fuckin’ love those guys. We’re so glad they’re OK.” All band members were discharged from the hospital earlier this week.

Finally, Turbonegro took the stage in full denim and makeup. While their threatening sound is undercut by their cartoonish appearance, their glam doesn’t dilute the fun of their danceable, gut punk. The band tore through a tight 15-song set. Songs spanned their long history (even if the current band members don’t), with special call-outs made for songs from their new album, Sexual Harassment.

Turbonegro setlist is as follows:
All My Friends Are Dead
Back to Dungaree High
You Give Me Worms
I Got A Knife
Hello Darkness
Dude Without a Face
TNA
Mister Sister
Wasted Again
FTW
Denim Demon
Get It On
Age of Pamparius
Do You Dig Destruction
I Got Erection
