Frank Ocean Reveals Via Tumblr That His First True Love Was A Man
Following rumors that Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All member Frank Ocean’s upcoming album Channel Orange had lyrics that hinted at him being a bisexual, the artist has just posted a detailed and personal statement on his Tumblr that appears to indicate as much is true, and that he is either gay or bisexual. According to Ocean, the words were supposed to appear in the liner notes for Channel Orange. Here they appear as a screen captured image of the text typed in a Mac TextEdit program. The text indicates that it was written on a plane while Ocean was on a plane coming back to Los Angeles from New Orleans.

In the passage Ocean describes meeting this man “4 summers ago” when he was 19. He describes the recognition of the feeling as, “BY THE TIME I REALIZED I WAS IN LOVE. IT WAS MALIGNANT. IT WAS HOPELESS. THERE WAS NO ESCAPING. NO NEGOTIATING WITH THE FEELING. NO CHOICE. IT WAS MY FIRST LOVE.” He concludes by stating, “I FEEL LIKE A FREE MAN. IF I LISTEN CLOSELY.. I CAN HEAR THE SKY FALLING TOO.” Certainly will be rampant speculation following this announcement, especially considering the controversy revolving around some of their homophobic and violent lyrics in the past, but regardless this is a brave step for Ocean.
OFWGKTA member Tyler, the Creator has already posted a congratulations of sorts regarding Ocean’s announcement.
My Big Brother Finally Fucking Did That. Proud Of That Nigga Cause I Know That Shit Is Difficult Or Whatever. Anyway. Im A Toilet.
