Buffalo Springfield Reunion Appears To Be Indefinitely Postponed

As reported by longstanding member of Buffalo Springfield, Richie Furay, the famed band is yet again on an indefinite hiatus.  Although the group planned to do a 30-date tour sometime this year, it apparently has been tough getting Neil Young on board.

Buffalo Springfield played their first reunion show back in 2010.  This performance was the first time they had played together since their 1968 split.  Over the course of the next year, they played a handful of shows, including Bonnaroo 2011, and there was the implication that they’d have booked a 30-date tour by now.

When asked about the reunion, here’s what Richie Furay had to say:

And, you know, Neil is just fickle, and even though it boils down to all three of us making a decision . . . without the three of us, really there can’t be anything that would even resemble a Buffalo Springfield . . . I gotta say that we probably lost a little bit of our momentum. That isn’t to say it couldn’t be picked up again, but I certainly don’t see anything happening this year.

As suggested by the Rolling Stone, it appears that Neil Young has higher priorities these days.  Young’s been working with Crazy Horse again, they recently put out a release called Americana and are working on a followup album.  Long-time fans of Buffalo Springfield and Crazy Horse can hope that there will be tour dates announced sometime down the road, but nothing is sure as of now.
