Gorillaz to Release Singles Collection on November 28
Fictional Gorillaz bassist Murdoc Neccals recently revealed via Twitter that the group will release a singles compilation dubbed The Singles Collection on November 28 that will celebrate 10 years of music. More after the jump.
Murdoc also gave fans a scare via Twitter, saying that “TEN,” the number of years the group has been active, stands for “The End is Nigh.” However, he later changed the acronym to a series of nonsensical statements like “This Era’s New” and “This Extravaganza’s Nuts.” Could be disinfo, but we haven’t seen any black helicopters yet.
The initial “The End is Nigh” interpretation does gain traction when coupled with frontman Damon Albarn’s recent statements to Q Magazine that explained his want to record a solo album sometime in the near future:
“I’d like to do a record with my own name on it. That’s the next one I want to make. I don’t know if I could bear to start a band from scratch again. I don’t know what kind of record it will be but I’ve got an idea about a club that no one goes to, so maybe it will be my ‘empty club culture’ record.”
Let’s also not forget that Albarn also recently announced that his side project, The Good, The Bad & The Queen, has reformed.
Regardless, though, The Singles Collection will feature 15 hit singles from the band that include tracks such as “Clint Eastwood,” “Dirty Harry” and “Feel Good Inc.” Preorders are available now.
The full tracklisting is as follows:
Tomorrow Comes Today
Clint Eastwood
19-2000
Rock The House
Feel Good Inc
DARE
Dirty Harry
Kids With Guns
El Manana
Stylo
Superfast Jellyfish
On Melancholy Hill

Clint Eastwood (Ed Case & Sweetie Irie Refix)
19-2000 (Soulchild Remix)
To promote the album, the band also released an interactive widget that allows users to drag and drop images and watch videos from the entire Gorillaz visual catalog. Check it out below:
