Bonnaroo officials and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department have confirmed that a second attendee at the 2011 music and arts festival has died.  According to Coffee County Sheriff Stephen Graves, the 24-year-old male died of hyperthermia.

This sad news broke days after a 32-year-old female from the Pittsburgh, PA area had been confirmed dead at the festival late Thursday night.  Her body was found at the festival’s campground site around 11 p.m.

The Associated Press reported that Christopher William Yoder, 24, died early Sunday at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. after being airlifted from the festival grounds.

Though no cause of death has been confirmed for the female attendee, Yoder’s case of hyperthermia is indicative of the sweltering heat which cascaded over the weekend long festival this year.

With consistent temperatures in the high 90s, weather conditions may be the only causes of death for individuals.  However, Sheriff Graves is still waiting on toxicology reports.

Although Bonnaroo officials released a previous statement in regards to the female attendee, they have also released a short statement in regards to Yoder.

“The safety of our patrons is our No. 1 concern, and we are deeply saddened by this,” stated the release.
