LCD Soundsystem Announces Last Show Ever

Much-loved dance-punk outfit LCD Soundsystem announced via their website today that they will be playing their last show ever at an April 2 gig at Madison Square Garden.

No other details were revealed about the group’s dissolution, but the message did request that fans attending the show to dress in white or black and come ready to have fun.

LCD Soundsystem plans to have the best last show ever, with a three hour, all-out peformance that will feature never-before played tracks and an appearance from band favorites liquid liquid.

General ticket sales begin February 11 via BoweryPresents and Ticketmaster.  More details for the pre-sale will be announced via Pitchfork and the band’s website on Tuesday.

LCD Soundsystem released a slew of compilations and singles, and three studio albums throughout their 10-year career, garnering them a total of three Grammy awards..  This is Happening, their most recent album, ranked in at number two on mxdwn’s Top 40 Albums of 2010.

*UPDATE* Now being billed as “LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye,” LCD Soundsystem’s final gig will feature performances of rare and never-before-heard tracks with the addition of a choir, a string section and a horn section.

Additionally, the band plans to perform with contributors that they have collaborated with throughout their career. No details about those collaborators have been released, but we’ll keep you updated when they are.
