Icelandic alternative superstar Bjork recently announced to Fréttablaðið, an Icelandic newspaper, that she is nearly finished recording her highly anticipated upcoming album and that she hopes to tour by fall of 2011.

Though no release date has been set, Bjork’s newest project will serve as her first release since 2007’s Volta.  As such, she is somewhat loath to give away too many details on the release:

“I have had some bad experiences with a number of things before. I’m very superstitious. I go into the studio with a plan to go do what I have in mind, and then the idea is half dead.”

One bit of information that Bjork revealed was the inspiration for one of the tracks on the album, which involved her attendance at a conference put on by National Geographic:

“I saw 100 talks and met eccentric people who had been in Africa for four years with lions and insects.  Then one night after drinking whiskey with them I began to hear stories. This is one of the collaborations I can talk about.”

And finally, the Icelandic singer/songwriter also address the possibility of touring in 2011:

“Hopefully I will be able to be on tour in the fall.”
