If you’ve never heard of her, the name DJ Rap might conjure up a completely different image than a 40-year-old DJ from Singapore’s primarily progressive house and drum and bass oriented music production. Charissa Saverio’s 15 year career has earned her a reputation within the music community as a deftly diverse DJ with powerhouse vocals. Having collaborated with many artists over the years, including music producer BT, Saverio has really showcased her range musically. Jamie Smith of The xx Remixes Gil Scott-Heron Album

Jamie Smith, the beatmaker for new wave pop group The xx, is releasing a remix of Gil Scott-Heron comeback LP I’m New Here, which was released earlier this year. The remixed version, We’re New Here, will be released Feb. 22 on XL/Young Turks Records. Watch a video for Smith’s remixed version of “New York Is Killing Me.” Read more…

Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi Present: ROME

As previously reported here, famed musician and producer Danger Mouse (a.k.a Brian Burton) has been working on a project with Italian composer Daniele Luppi and American everything Jack White. Good news: Norah Jones also got involved. Even better news: after nearly a half decade of excruciating work, the project, entitled ROME, has been completed and mixed. Bright Eyes Announce Announce Album & Show Details

Bright Eyes are set to release The People’s Key Feb. 15 on Saddle Creek Records. In addition to the announcement of the album release, the band also announced that two special shows next year- one at Radio City Music Hall on March 9 and one London’s famed Royal Albert Hall on June 23. Einstürzende Neubauten Cancel 30th Anniversary Tour
