Monotonix show shut down at All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival

For the second year in a row, Israeli garage rockers Monotonix (Drag City) had their show shut down at the All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival this past weekend.

A little background – at last year’s ATP Festival, a random audience member jumped a festival representative during Monotonix’s set (video evidence here), and the band was banned from ever playing at the festival site again. However, the band and festival management reached a precarious middle ground for this year’s festival – as long as Monotonix and the audience remained seated during the band’s set, the show could go on.

Of course things didn’t go according to plan. By the band’s third song, the audience had gotten up and started to dance and during the band’s fifth song the venue pulled the plug on them. The band thanked all their fans for coming to the show in a recent press release.

In slightly better news, the band is planning the release of a new Steve Albini-recorded single entitled “Fun Fun Fun / Try Try Try” on June 29th on Drag City. Monotonix also have about a billion tour dates planned all across Europe and the U.S. this year, so if you’re looking to catch the band, it’s likely they’ll be nearby at some point.
