AC/DC to Release Backtracks – The Ultimate AC/DC Experience

On Nov. 10, AC/DC will release Backtracks – The Ultimate AC/DC Experience via Columbia Records. Backtracks will be available in two special edition box sets and spans the length of the band’s career. Both sets include rare songs, hard-to-find live performances and the log-awaited debut of Family Jewels Disc 3, a DVD showcasing the group’s music videos, live performances, and promotional clips from 1992-2009 (the original double-disc Family Jewels was named 2005’s “DVD of the Year” by the UK’s Classic Rock magazine while the RIAA certified the collection 10x Platinum for sales in excess of 1 million copies in the US alone).

Thom Yorke Plays The Orpheum in LA, Oct. 4th and 5th

Thom Yorke, known as Radiohead’s frontman, has put together a new band, and some new gigs. He’s going to perform a couple of short concerts in Los Angeles at the Orpheum Theater, October 4th and 5th. The band includes drummer Joey Waronker, percussionist Mauro Refosco, bassist Flea (of Red Hot Chili Peppers) and longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. They haven’t quite got around to pitching their name yet, but they know they will play some of the material from Yorke’s recently released solo album, Eraser. The Lucky Dragons will open.

Morricone Conducts Morricone Oct. 25th at the Hollywood Bowl

Academy Award winner and celebrated composer Ennio Morricone, will be taking the historic stage at the Hollywood Bowl for the first time on October 25th. He will be conducting a six minute piece written by his son, composer Andrea Morricone, plus music from his own famous film scores. Ennio Morricone has composed and arranged scores for more than 500 movies and television productions. His son, Andrea Morricone, seems to be following in his footsteps. He’s best known as the composer for the Italian film, Cinema Paradiso.

RJD2 Releases “The Colussus” January 2010

RJD2 will release a fourth album, entitled The Colossus on January 19th, 2010. This time RJ’s producing it on his own label, RJ’s Electrical Connections. He’s re-acquired the master recordings of his Definitive Jux catalog in its entirety for re-release. Unlike the solo effort of his last album, The Third Hand, the new album focuses on collaboration. The Colossus features Phonte Coleman (Little Brother, Foreign Exchange), Kenna (Star Trak, VA Beach), Aaron Livingston (The Roots’ Guns Are Drawn), Columbus MC’s The Catalyst, Illogic, NP.
