Cranberries Reunite for Tour

Although the irish rock band never truly broke up, the seven year hiatus will be broken soon after this announcement.  With the release of lead singer Dolores O’Riordan’s solo album (No Baggage) on August 31st, dates for the tour will be announced soon.  Thr our will feature old hits such as “Zombie” and “Linger” and is a result of the band coming together for the first time in January.

Sublime Reunion of Sorts

Sublime, of Long Beach country fame, will be reuniting with a new 20-year-old lead singer, Rome, for the Smokeout Festival.  The festival will be held October 23-24 at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, CA and will feature Slipknot, deftones, Cypress Hill, Pennywise, Methodman Redman, and Kottonmouth Kings, among other.  The full line-up is available on their website.

Turn Off the Bright Lights

London-based trio White Lies have garnered quite a bit of hype in the British press over the past year after releasing some fairly formidable singles. It’s easy to see their appeal, competently blending the moody post-punk atmospherics of Interpol with the arena-filling melodies of The Killers. It’s also all too easy to greet their debut album To Lose My Life with a simple shrug. It’s an occasionally promising, often padded collection of hits and misses that finds the band already resting on limited laurels and the listener wondering what all the hot fuss was about. When Crookers’ ubiquitous remix of Kid Cudi’s “Day N Nite” took over American dance floors, Italy became the next house/electro epicenter with acts like Crookers and The Bloody Beetroots trailing closely behind Parisian groups like Justice (yet not so closely behind Daft Punk). DJ AM Found Dead in Manhattan Apartment

Philadelphia native and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM, 36, was found dead Friday evening in his Manhattan apartment according to the Associated Press. Paramedics had to break down the door to DJ AM’s apartment at 5:20 PM in which officers told the press there was drug parahernalia found. Read more…
