Trey Songz Set to Release Ready

Grammy-Nominated singer/songwriter/actor Trey Songz sat down with Billboard to discuss his third studio album Ready, set to be relased September 1 via Song Book/Atlantic Records. Songz described the album as “very adult, very easy-going, and very sexy. Ready will showcase producers such as Stargate, Johnta Austin, Troy Taylor, Carlos “Los DaMystro” McKinney, Eric Hudson and Bryan-Michael Cox. DJ/Rupture & Matt Shadetek Set to Release Solar Life Raft

DJ/Rupture and Matt Shadetek has come to together to produce their new LP Solar Life Raft, set to be released November 11 via The Agriculture. Solar Life Raft will be a three-disc set created by two individuals with a shared appreciation for engaging with streetwise dance music from a ground-up, participatory perspective, as well as more experimental sounds. Muse Announce New Single Release Date and Shows

The British rock band, Muse, will release their fifth studio album, The Resistance, on September 15. The new single, “Uprising,” is the first time the public has heard anything new from the Muse since their 2006 album, Black Holes and Revelations. To promote their new album, Muse will perform at the 2009 MTV Music Awards on September 13 and they will open a few shows for U2 including Giants Stadium in New York on September 24. “Uprising” hits airwaves on August 3 and is available for digital download on August 4.

Dethklok to Release New Album

July 29th, 2009

Williams Street Records has announced the soon-to-be-released second album from Dethklok of Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse. On September 27, the animated band will release Dethklok: The Dethalbum II – an album featuring 12 full-length tracks detailing Dethklok’s exploits in murder, mayhem and all things brutal. The album was written by series co-creator Brendon Small and was recorded alongside legendary drummer Gene Hoglan and will be released as both a standard edition and a two-disc deluxe edition on CD and digital download beginning September 8.  Additionally, a limited edition vinyl of the album will be released to local record shops on November 24, just in time for the holidays.

Portugal. The Man Announces North American Headlining Tour

Portugal. The Man have announced a headlining tour in support of their fourth full-length album The Satanic Stanist which hit stores on July 21. The tour kicks off with two sold-out shows in New York on August 4 and 5 and runs through the end of October. Portugal. The Man will welcome Hockey on the second portion of the tour and Drug Rug as support on many of their summer/fall dates.

Dr. Dog Signs With Anti Records

Anti Records just announced the signing of Philadelphia band Dr. Dog. With four records already under their belt, the band is currently preparing to record a new LP set for release in early 2010. In addition to studio time this summer, Dr. Dog will also head out on the road for a headlining tour.

500 Days of Summer Releases Soundtrack

Originally screened at Sundance 2009, the Fox Searchlight anti-romantic comedy (500) Days of Summer has now brought out a a deluxe edition soundtrack exclusively to iTunes this July 28th, 2009. The digital-only version features star Zooey Deschanel singing “Sugar Town” (the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazelwood classic) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt singing “Here Comes Your Man.” According to their press release, The New York Observer refers to it as “an infectious nostalgia-baiting soundtrack with the Smiths, Belle and Sebastian, and Regina Spektor.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee is set to give an intimate performance, audience Q and A, and an exclusive interview at the Sound Stage of The Grammy Museum on August 24, the day before his new LP Time Flies When You’re Having Fun (Robso Records) is set to be released.
