Jens Lekman Announces Tour Dates

Swedish indie pop star Jens Lekman announces West coast tour kicking off May 26, 2009 in San Diego. The tour features their critically acclaimed album Night Falls Over Kortedala.Comedian Tig Notaro (Last Comic Standing 4, Sarah Silverman Show) will support.

Dirty Projectors To Perform with Bjork, & Tour with TV On The Radio,

Dirty Projectors and Bjork will collaborate for a one-night only benefit show on May 8, 2009 at the Housing Works Bookstore in Manhattan. Their upcoming album Bitte Orca will be released June 9, 2009 on Domino Records, while their spring tour, opening for TV On The Radio begins May 22, 2009.

Smashing Pumpkins AUDITION Drummers

The Smashing Pumpkins are looking for a new drummer! The band’s original drummer Jimmy Chamberlain finished his last gig with the band March 20th. Chamberlain posted on his website that there is no bad blood, but he just couldn’t fully commit to the music of the band anymore. He still plans on pursuing his own career.

Isis Goes on Tour May 15, 2009

ISIS heads out on 6 week tour in support of their upcoming studio album Wavering Radiant starting May 15, 2009 in San Diego. The album comes out in limited vinyl on April 21st, and on CD May 5th. Adam Jones of Tool plays on two tracks. Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins) is the producer.

It’s been easy to lump together the cohort of stoner reggae bands both inspired by and left to stand on their own after the death of Sublime’s Bradley Nowell. While most were able to linger shortly on the fleeting coattails of Sublime’s popularity, a few such as Ocean Beach’s Slightly Stoopid have been able to transcend Nowell’s shadow and build their own momentum. Ponytail Begins U.S. Tour

The Baltimore based rock-quartet, Ponytail has begun their U.S. Spring tour. The band that was named, “Best Live Band” in 2007 and 2008 by the Baltimore City Paper, is said to give the type of show that will allow you to release, party and have a cathartic getaway.

Wilco Reveal New Album info, Feist Collaboration

In some of the most exciting news to ever hit the IndieFolkRock Universe, Wilco has confirmed rumors that Feist will be appearing on the Band’s forthcoming album. The untitled LP is set for a late June release. Feist lends her vocal talents to the song “You and I”. Wilco has been mixing the new tracks with Producer/Engineer Jim Scott, stating on their website that ten tracks are completed although the album’s sequence is not set or completed. Ashes of American Flags, Wilco’s new live DVD will be released April 18, sold exclusively in Indie Retail outlets.

Coldplay, Beastie Boys headlining All Points West

The second annual All Points West Music & Arts Festival will take place July 31-Aug. 2 at Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Other bands playing the multistage, three day festival include Tool, Echo and the Bunnymen, Vampire Weekend, and Fleet Foxes, as well as comedians Eugene Mirman and Tim and Eric( of Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!). Tickets go on sale April 3 with single day tickets going for $89 and three day passes for $199.

Green Day’s American Idiot, Live on Stage!

Green Day’s Grammy award winning concept album is being brought to the stage with the help of Tony Award winning director Michael Mayer. The new show, surprisingly titled, American Idiot, will debut September 4 at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, CA and will feature every song from the album, as well as several songs from Green Day’s forthcoming release, 21th Century Breakdown. In reference to his collaboration with Michael Mayer, Billie Joe Armstrong of GD said “”We’d been thinking of bringing American Idiot to the stage, but knew we needed to find the right partners. After meeting with Michael to discuss the possibility, we were so impressed with his vision for American Idiot, that we knew we’d found the perfect collaborator.” Tickets for the show are currently on sale, starting at $32.
