In March, PBS will air a documentary chronicling performances from the only band that matters, The Clash. Titled The Clash Lve: Revolution Rock, the doc will feature live-in-the-studio footage as will as live clips from 1979 all the way through their massive performance at Shea Stadium in 1982. Revolution Rock will be released on DVD April 15, but for those who want to catch it on television, a listing can be found here.
After several mentions of an EP of new material in interviews during the twilight of 2007, Animal Collective now confirm the tracklist and release date of Water Curses. Hitting US shelves May 6, the EP will collect 4 tracks left off of their highly acclaimed Strawberry Jam. Water Curses comes to the world via Domino Records and will be available on CD and 12″.

Arriving March 4th will be a new mini-LP from ex-Pixies and current-Catholics frontman Frank Black via his original nom de plume, Black Francis. Titled Svn Fngrs, there will be 7 songs topping out at about 20 minutes.
According to Black Francis, “…[Svn Fngrs] is much more produced in terms of the vocal layering of my own voice, perhaps along the lines of Teenager of the Year. I won’t bother you here with what the damn concept is, but let’s just say the theme revolves around a lot of NASTY sex, NASTIER death, and beautifully strange birth.”

Experimental pop and dynamic duo Gnarls Barkley have wrapped up their video for the first single from the forthcoming Odd Couple. Titled “Run,” the first single will hit shelves March 24 while the album will follow on April 8th. The video for “Run” is directed by Happy, a filmmaking duo comprised of Guy Shelmerdane and Richard Farmer.
Refusing to stop and breathe, Gnarls Barkley have re-teamed with Chris Milk for the second video from Odd Couple, “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul.” The duo previously worked with Silk on their Grammy-nominated video “Gone Daddy Gone.” Read more…
Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks will release Real Emotional Trash on March 4. This will be the first album with new Jick Janet Weiss (of Sleater Kenney and Quasi fame). The former Pavement man and his band will hit the road just 2 weeks following the release.

The Turkish-born French-raised international jetsetting DJ extraordinaire Dimitri From Paris will release a third Playboy Mansion set. Dubbed Return to the Playboy Mansion, it will hit stores on April 22. The 2-disc set will feature both sides of his coin, Disc 1 being the party and disc 2 focusing on the more intimate side of things.

Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan have completed the follow-up to their Mercury Prize-nominated collaboration The Ballad of the Broken Seas. Titled Sunday at Devil Dirt, the album will be released this May in the UK with a Stateside release date to be determined. Like its predecessor, Dirt was written by Belle & Sebastian alum Campbell with Lanegan contributing vocals afterwards.
The Frames’ Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova managed to upset three hit songs from Disney’s “Enchanted” to take home the Academy Award for Best Song. The win was for “Falling Slowly,” arguably the centerpiece from the soundtrack to the indie hit “Once.” The duo also performed a memorable rendition of the song live on Sunday night’s Oscar telecast.
