Yeah Yeah Yeahs Add Tour Dates

The rock trio known as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have added two dates to their North American Summer tour. The tour supports their Is Is EP and begins tomorrow August 1st at Granada Theater in Lawrence, KS.

Solo Album from SOAD’s Serj Tankian.

System of a Down front man Serj Tankian has announced that on October 22, he will be releasing a solo album entitled Elect The Dead , and that it will include guest appearances from former Primus, Guns N’ Roses drummer Bryan Mantia and System Of A Down’s John Dolmayan. Elect The Dead will start with a digital download single, ‘Unthinking Majority’ on August 7th, and be followed with radio single ‘Empty Walls’ on October 15th. Read more…

Sigus Ros Movie

Sigur Ros have announced the release of a concert dvd for later this year. Shot last year in their native Iceland, Heima will be in stores November 5, and contains bits and pieces from shows both big and small over the entire length of the band’s career. Read more…

One Member Down For KISS

Paul Stanley of KISS has been forced to suspend his upcoming concert appearances due to a heart condition. Stanley was taken to Cedars Sinai hospital Friday during a sound check in Los Angeles, when his heart began beating more than 190 beats per minute, over 2x what it should be. His doctors confirmed that the condition posed a serious health threat, and recommended that the rocker cancel all appearances. Read more…

Dinosaur Jr. U.S. Tour Dates

Dinosaur Jr. have added a handful of U.S. dates to the band’s world tour behind Beyond. Support for the reunited trio’s first recorded material together in nearly 20 years follows a lengthy jaunt throughout Europe and Japan before the band lands stateside.

The Stooges Fun House in Las Vegas

The Stooges have announced that they will perform their landmark 1970 album, Fun House, in its entirety for the very first time in the US. They will do so at Las Vegas’ Vegoose Festival which is set to take place October 27th and 28th at the Sam Boyd Stadium.

Joining The Stooges on the bill for the Halloween festival are Muse, Rage Against The Machine, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Shins, Public Enemy, and Daft Punk.

Etheridge’s The Awakening

Melissa Etheridge’s first album in more than three years, The Awakening, will arrive September 25th via Island. It is led by the single “Message to Myself” which goes to U.S. radio outlets on July 30th.

Since the release of 2004’s Lucky, Etheridge has conquered breast cancer and that experience has informed the lyrics for the new album. Among the other tracks earmarked to appear are “Threesome,” “The Universe Listened,” “I’ve Loved You Before,” “An Unexpected Rain” and “California.”

The Awakening began taking shape around the time Etheridge won the best original song Oscar in February for “I Need To Wake Up,” from Al Gore’s environmental documentary I Need To Wake Up. Read more…

Bronze Elvis Unveiled in Hawaii

A life-sized bronze statue of Elvis Presley has been unveiled in Hawaii at site of his famous 1973 concert at the Neal Blaisdell Center. The King performed a TV special “Aloha From Hawaii” which was one of the first major concerts to be broadcast on globally via satellite. More than a billion people watched the landmark event. Mayor of Honolulu, Mufi Hannemann, said at the ceremony, “He was not a native son of our land, but we adopted him as our own.” The statue was a gift from TV Land. Read more…
